Charm, glitter and magic spread in the air on Aie Serve’s masquerade party on Satu
rday, June 2nd at Riviera hotel. It was indeed a celebration of civil engagement, youth empowerment, professional volunteerism, and achievements.
Five years of continuous success have passed and Aie Servers surly know how to celebrate them. The cocktail ceremony had a special feeling to it with the tunes of Phantom of the Opera and special dance performances from Dracula and such throughout the night.
President AfifTabsh took the chance to lay out the organization’s achievements since 2007 and gave the attendees a peak at the upcoming events. “I’m glad to say that this year we have outdone ourselves”, said Tabsh expressing his pride of Aie Serve’s members, trainers and volunteers.
As part of the Aie Clubs project, all ten trainers who have undergone the “Training of the Trainer” program received a certificate to validate their professionally obtained training skills. Trainers have previously attended the Club Initiation Management course and delivered their own workshop under Aie Serve’s supervision before they were granted their certificates.
Later on, Tabsh also displayed Aie Consult’s latest updates like helping two new NGOs get registered. Youssef Aziz was said to be behind the success of this program and also promised some new promising projects. Finally, the highlight of the ceremony was the announcement of the Aie Power program winners. The Aie Power Program, aims at empowering youth initiatives and projects by giving them the needed training, coaching and financial support to achieve their aspirations. Further, projects have to serve the main values of Aie Serve which are respect, acceptance and love. After careful screening of a number of projects that were received, Aie Serve finally chose the below projects:
- Imagination Studio: dedicated to braking the boundaries that exist in our society creating social, political and regional bias
- Green Generation: dedicated to sewage treatment and garbage separation and reduction
- Beirut Green Project: dedicated to maintaining and increasing the green areas in Lebanon
- Get your Career on: involved in career orientation and directing youth in their job selection and application process
Members of the winning projects were thrilled with the results and ever excited to kick start their projects. Lara Ghanime of the Green Generation project said that their target was to address school and university students in their workshops on proper garbage management.
“We will cooperate with the municipalities like the Municipality of Beirut to train the youth in our society on waste treatment and eventually reduction”.
On the other hand, Jana Reslan from Imagination Studio explained that their project is divided into 5 groups, each involved in a different aspect. Her own team works on “Politics and friendship” enabling people of different political alienations to accept each other. Other teams work on linguistic breaking the boundaries between Lebanese from different areas. “We will have a bus that roams Lebanon conducting fun activities like Karaoke to help people from different backgrounds become more interactive with each other,” said Reslan.
She also pointed out the group itself is made up of 30 professional volunteers ach of a different educational, social, religious and political background.
It was truly inspiring to see the spirit in all Aie Server’s eyes on that night. It is the same spirit that makes them initiate, achieve and succeed, creating a better society for all of us!
